Tanima is happy with her film

Rains might have come as welcome relief in the sweltering heat but they turned out to be a spolisport in case of certain directors.
Take Tanima Sen, for example. She was supposed to can a couple of outdoor shots for her directorial debut ���������Pother Shesh Kothay���������. But due to the whims of the weather gods, the film-maker had to cancel the dates. She will now shoot the sequences on July 1, 2 and 3.Tanima, however, is happy with the way the rest of her film has turned out.
Says the director, ���������I penned the script keeping Chandreyee Ghosh, Shaheb Chattopadhyay, Soumitra Chatterjee, Krishna Kishore and Gourab in mind. They have done a great job with the roles. As for newcomer Shimli, I had an advantage. Since this was her debut, she never had any fear of facing the camera. On hindsight, if I had some more time on my hands, I could have groomed her even better. But with so many good actors on the job, Shimli���������s task became relatively easy.���������
The director was shooting an emotional scene in North Kolkata with these actors for her film that revolves around a North Kolkata family, when CT shutterbug froze frames. She explains the sequence, ���������Anindya (Shaheb) and Chandra (Chandreyee), are Abhimanyu���������s (Gourab) childhood friends. Abhimanyu is autistic. The duo has arranged for some funds for their friend only to realize that they are late. Abhimanyu has already passed away. Shimli plays Tota, Abhimanyu���������s sister, while Krishna Kishore and I essay his parents.��������� Tanima also adds, ���������After a long time, Mrinal Mukherjee, who plays Tota���������s boyfriend���������s father, has sung in his voice. The actor has belted out the Tagore song, ���������Ami poth bhola ek pothik eshechhi��������� for my film.���������
The film-maker, however, is truly moved by Gourab���������s performance, ���������I was amazed with Gourab. It took me three years to pen the script but I had to tell Gourab only once about my expectations. And boy, did he deliver!���������
As for the actor in question, the reference point was ���������What���������s Eating Gilbert Grape��������� a 1993 film directed by Lasse Hallstr������m. ���������The film has Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio. Gilbert Grape���������s (Depp) brother Arnie (Leonardo DiCaprio), has a developmental disability. Leonardo was my inspiration for Abhimanyu. I did play a somewhat similar character in ���������Durga���������. But in a megaserial, you don���������t really get the time to research a character much.���������
The actor is happy to have worked with a senior cast. ���������You grow as an actor when such opportunities knock on your door,��������� adds Gourab, who is also part of Partho Sarothi Bhattacharya���������s film based on a ���������true story���������.
