Tanaya is my jaaneman: Soham
Admits Soham, who is all set to tie the knot with his fiancee in November. Meanwhile, he doesnt mind romancing Koel and the other leading ladies of Twood...
So, who is Sohams jaaneman?
(Laughs) In personal or professional life?
Both...
The real jaaneman in my life is my fiancee, Tanaya. And if you talk about the professional front, it has to be my career.
1x1 polls

Doesnt your real-life jaaneman have issues when you romance heroines on screen?
Tanaya understands that I need to romance women to earn my bread and butter. She trusts me and knows that professional jaanemans are restricted to celluloid only!
So, when are you both tying the knot?
Coming November. Im counting days...

In Raja Chandas Jaaneman, its said that for the first time youll be playing an angry young man. But havent you already done that in Amanush?
True. But I played a psycho in Amanush. On the other hand, Deba in Jaaneman is confident, focused, lives in his own world and has an amazing sense of humour. But being an introvert, he finds difficulty in expressing his feelings to his beloved Ria (Koel). In Phande Poria Boga Kande Re, I got badly beaten up and heres my chance to get back at others. The action sequences are modern and Rajada has treated them well. Not just action, emotions, love and comedy too play important roles in Jaaneman.
In real life, are you an introvert like Deba?
To some extent, yes. I dont talk much. But unlike Deba, I did express my feelings to Tanaya.
Have you done the stunts by yourself? Rajada didnt allow me use a dummy. Trust me, some of the action sequences were really tough bordering on the danger zone!
The songs of the film are already a rage. What are your personal favourites?
'Tomar amar prem' and 'I am in love'.
This is your second film with the director...
Yes, my Ley Halua Le was also with him. With time, his confidence level has gone up by leaps and bounds. Rajada is also a master coordinator. One will always find him with his storyboard, so that no one on the set is clueless about work.
Years back, you had worked with Koel, but this jodi is spanking new. Did you ever feel that Koels stardom could overshadow you?
Not at all. It was a pleasure working with Koel! I was a struggling actor when Koel had already established herself as a star. But her stardom never came in the way of work. I know Koel for many years now and that bonding has translated into the on-screen chemistry.
You are many films old in the industry, but still Dev is considered to be a bigger star...
Devs starpower is unparalleled! I am really grateful that the audience are comparing me with him.
But film lovers say you are a better actor...
Loke boluk, ami kichhui bolchhi na!
Rajibs Prosenjit-starrer Bikram Singha: The Lion is Back will be releasing on the same date as Jaaneman. Arent you nervous?
Ore baba, Bumba mamus (Prosenjit) film is releasing with mine! The very idea makes me both nervous and proud. He texted me: You are looking fab. And my answer was: But still you are the Hero. I am confident about both the films as they belong to different genres!
Srabanti, Subhashree, Payel, Koel you have worked with all the leading ladies of Tollywood. Who is your favourite?
As an actor, I am comfortable with each one of them. But the audience thinks that the Soham-Srabanti jodi rocks!
Any director you want to work with?
Raj Chakrabarty and Ravi Kinagi.
