Actor-turned-director Soumyajit Majumder, who is keeping busy in editing and dubbing for his debut directorial, ‘Homecoming’ – A love letter to Kolkata’, was stuck in Mumbai during the lockdown. The film, which the director says has a new style of storytelling called ‘episodic cinema’, stars Sayani Gupta, Soham Majumdar, Plabita Borthakur, Hussain Dalal, Tushar Pandey and Tuhina Das, among others.

Interestingly, Tushar Pandey who will be seen in this Bengali film with Bengali dialogues had shared the screen with Sushant Singh Rajput in ‘Chhichhore’. His effortless acting earned him accolades. Recently the actor was in Kolkata for the dubbing session and he has only one regret. Due to the

the National School of Drama pass-out actor couldn’t enjoy Durga Puja despite spending time in Kolkata during Puja.

The story of the film revolves around a group of friends, who were part of a theater group, which was dismantled.
Meanwhile, describing his film as a cosmopolitan coming-of-age feature, Soumyajit had earlier said that he had quite an experience in Mumbai while he was editing the portions already shot. “I shot the first half in Kolkata between February 15 and 25, and then went to Mumbai to edit the portions. But soon, the lockdown was announced. I was stuck in a Mumbai hotel for five months! I resumed work from June 15,” he said, adding that musician Neil Mukherjee is doing the film’s background score.
