Sudeshna Roy and
Abhijit Guha had a great time shooting for their latest movie, Samsara. About three friends who meet 18 years after school, it’s about a writer’s struggles to distinguish between illusion and reality. The film features
Ritwick Chakraborty as the writer, and Rahul and Indrajit as his friends. Their wives’ characters are essayed by Tnusree Chakraborty, Arja Banerjee and
Devlina Kumar. Talking about the shooting experience in the hills, Sudeshna said, “We shot a part of the film in Umsning,
Meghalaya
. There was no internet or network connection on the phone. Every time a team member got his/her network back, there would be a rush to that spot. There was a huge commotion during the shoot, but it was also great fun.” Another time, the unit members were scared about crossing a stream by car. “It was already dark and there was a stream that we had to cross by car. The headlights were on and many hit the panic button and thought that we’d be swept away. But even though the popular notion was that we needed an SUV for the stretch, we could easily cross it on a hatchback,” she recalled. Sudeshna said they had an easy shoot in Cherrapunji in February. “It was extremely dry when we shot there and we could capture the rocky regions well. We were told the same places are usually under water on other months of the year. So, we were lucky," she said. The film’s trailer will be launched this evening.
