Subrata Ghosh to explore the plight of writers in his debut film

Subrata Ghosh’s debut film Tahader Katha is a tribute to all writers, be it known or unknown, popular or unpopular. As the name suggests, Tahader Katha means ‘about them’. In the film, the director talks about all writers who want to tell their stories.

It goes without saying that there’s a lot of uncertainty in the creative spectrum, especially for writers. A lot of times, their stories are not being read and hence the characters of the novels die as people don’t get to know them. The saddest part of being a good writer and a celebrated writer is the stupendous journey which not all artistes can undertake.

In the era of digitisation and cell phones, the director thinks it’s a story that will be relatable to many in our society, especially with the sharp decline in the number of book readers.

Tahader Katha is a mixture of realism and surrealism where audiences will get to see all the characters from various novels of the writer. The film features actors Rishav Basu, Anindya Sengupta, Rajnandini Paul and Biswanath Basu in pivotal roles.
