“A stray dog was shot with an arrow and left to suffer without help for four days. When I learned about the situation, I took a professional catcher and travelled 19 km from Tarakeswar to the village to rescue him,” said Damayanti Sen, an animal rescuer working across Kolkata.

After being rescued, the dog was taken to a hospital in Kolkata, where it underwent surgery. Currently, the animal is under observation at an NGO in Kolkata and will be brought back once fully recovered. Animal welfare activists have condemned the incident, calling for stricter measures against animal cruelty and better awareness regarding stray animal protection.
