Stay order on Andarkahini’s release

Stay order on Andarkahini’s release
Priyanka Sarkar-starrer Andarkahini, which was all set to release on September 6, is not going to hit the screens as per schedule due to an ongoing tussle between director Arnab Midya and producer Tarun Rana. The latter has filed a legal case, following which the court has imposed a stay order on the release of the film.
Tarun told us that back in 2016, when the shooting of his first film, Madamer Biye, was on, Arnab had joined his production house as a marketing manager.

“But soon, he convinced me to make Andarmahal with him. He told me that he has been associated with a number of short films and projects and thus, had sufficient experience,” said Tarun, adding that the shooting of Madamer Biye couldn’t be completed because of budget issues.
After wrapping up the shoot for Andarkahini, Arnab started sending the film to different festivals. “For various reasons, I couldn’t go to those festivals and sent him instead,” said Tarun. The film also went on to win as many as 36 awards at the festivals. Meanwhile, during the nomination of Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival, Tarun realised that Arnab’s name was mentioned there as the producer. “Besides, I didn’t even know that the film was releasing on Friday. After learning about it from the papers, I decided to take him to court,” said Tarun.
Meanwhile, when we contacted Arnab, he said that he has received the stay order and is planning to take necessary legal actions. “I cannot comment on the matter because it is sub judice. I have enough material to prove my claims and will do so in the court,” he told us.
