Srijit opens up on Gumnaami Baba
While speculation is rife about the content of Srijit Mukherji’s upcoming film, Gumnaami Baba, the director took to social media to clear the air. He wrote: “On the eve of a press conference called by one faction of the Bose family which doesn’t believe in the Gumnaami Baba theory, spent a lovely evening with some wonderful members of the faction of the Bose family which does.

The warm and cordial Jayanti Rakshit and Arya Kumar Bose, grandchildren of Sarat Bose, Netaji’s elder brother, along with Mr. Amiya Rakshit enriched me with anecdotes and opinions of many other Bose family members like Tapati Ghosh and Geeta Biswas who believed that Gumnaami Baba was Netaji. I wish I could also meet Emily Schenkl, Netaji’s wife who emphatically rejected the plane crash theory, Suresh Bose, Netaji’s other elder brother, who maintained till his death in 1972 that Netaji was alive thus indirectly giving credence to the Gumnaami Baba theory and Lalita Bose, Netaji's niece, who recognised Gumnaami's belongings as his Uncle’s and was convinced that both were the same man.” Even though Srijit announced the film with Prosenjit Chatterjee early in the year, he has been quiet about what will be shown in the movie. Asking people to wait before the pass a verdict, Srijit added, “Did Netaji die in a plane crash? Was Gumnaami Baba Netaji Shubhash Chandra Bose? Form your own opinion in January 2020.”
