Baba, a Godman of Faizabad was Netaji in disguise.

However, from day one Srijit has made it clear, his film only shows three theories discussed in the Mukherjee Commission and it’s not inspired by Anuj Dhar and Chandrachur Ghosh’s book ‘CONUNDRUM, Subhas Bose’s Life After Death’.

To clear all these confusions, here are Srijit and Prosenjit Chatterjee, who plays Netaji in the film explaining the reason behind the title ‘Gumnaami’ and why the Tolly star has been cast as Netaji.

The national award winning director had earlier confirmed his film doesn’t claim to say that Netaji was Gumnami Baba himself. Even the title of the film is ‘Gumnaami’, not Gumnaami Baba. “A filmmaker has to ask questions, not to give answers. So I didn’t give any verdict or answer. I have only followed the Mukherjee Commission proceedings and the debates and questions that arose out of these three theories. In the end, I have also quoted the commission where it debunked the plain clash theory but also said that there is no clinching evidence that proves 'Gumnami Baba' was Netaji,” explained Srijit.

Produced by SVF, ‘Gumnaami’ will release on October 2.
