Soumitra Chattopadhyay and Parambrata Chatterjee once again team up in Abhijit Guha and Sudeshna Roy’s ‘

Sraboner Dhara

’, after Parambrata’s successful last directorial ‘Shonar Pahar’. The film was screened at the ongoing

Kolkata International Film Festival

in front of a packed house and was appreciated by one and all.

We get to see Soumitra as an elderly history professor Amitabho, suffering from Alzheimer’s and Param plays Nilabho, a young doctor. There’s more to the acting powerhouse ensemble. Gargee Roy Chowdhury plays a pivotal role of Soumitra’s wife.

Speaking about the film an elated Gargi said: “I had a great time shooting the film as I was offered the film by two of my favourite directors. The second attraction was the chance to act opposite Soumitra Chatterjee in the role of his wife. It was a lifetime opportunity”.

While the film deals with the story of difficult to handle patients and how the people taking care of the sick are even more affected, there is also suspicious undertone to the relationship drama. The mystery prevails whether Gargee is actually Soumitra’s wife or someone else. The story also deals with identity crisis of three people.

“Getting the chance to act with Soumitra Chatterjee was the most appealing aspect. That’s why I accepted the offer to act in the film. Moreover the story of the film was also appealing as it dealt with a disease which most people do not have a clear idea about,” said Parambrata.

As usual, Soumitra Chattopadhyay delivers yet another terrific performance as an Alzheimer’s patient. “I had acted in a few films dealing with the disease of Alzheimer. I have seen the disease on first hand. So I know about the intricacies associated with the disease. The film hopefully will be liked by the audience,” said the thespian.

Produced by Pradip Churiwal, the screenplay of ‘Sraboner Dhara’ is by Dr Suvendu Sen and Padmanabha Dasgupta. The film is eyeing a February 2020 release.
