Srabanti leads mystery drama Thakumar Jhuli

A gripping mix of mystery and emotion, Thakumar Jhuli directed by Ayan Chakraborti brings together suspense and family dynamics in a compelling new series set in Bishnupur. The story follows Girijabala Sanyal, a sharp and observant widow in her mid-60s, whose solitary life takes an unexpected turn when her estranged granddaughter Jaggaseni returns from abroad. Jaggaseni’s visit, meant to attend her friend Amrapali’s wedding in a powerful political family, soon takes a dark twist as a disturbing mystery unfolds. As events spiral, the unlikely duo of grandmother and granddaughter find themselves drawn into an intense investigation that tests both their instincts and their relationship.
Speaking about her role, Srabanti said, “Girijabala is a fascinating character — sharp, intuitive and quietly fearless. What I loved most about the story is how it blends suspense with a deeply emotional bond between a grandmother and her granddaughter.”
Divyani Mondal, who plays Jaggaseni, shared that her character is strong-willed and determined, adding, “Her journey through the investigation is both intense and emotional. The dynamic between the two characters really drives the narrative forward.”
"The series as a story rooted in human instincts and relationships. While it unfolds like a thriller, at its core, it is about two generations coming together in search of the truth,” said Ayan.
Thakumar Jhuli also features Rahul Arunoday Banerjee as police officer Brihaspati Mallick and Debraj Bhattacharya as journalist Bedobroto Chakraborty.
