This is one trend imported from Bollywood that Tollywood could do without. We are talking about the SMS spoiler trends in Bollywood. Soon after the release of Avik Mukhopadhyays Ekti Taraar Khonje, several SMSes are doing the rounds. Not only do they reveal the plot of the film, the messages conclude with the line: u wil nt mis anythng if u mis d film...SMSes killing the twist-in-the-tale with forwards containing the plot of the film have often done the rounds ahead of the release of Kurbaan, New York, My Name Is Khan and even, 3 Idiots.
But hardly have any of these alerts viciously insisted that one should avoid watching a movie. As a matter of fact, in most cases in Bollywood, there have a debate over whether such alerts have been buzz-creators rather than being buzz-killers.
Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, the producer of ETK, is disturbed with the circulation of such spoiler alerts. Says the director, One might like or dislike a movie. I dont know who is behind this but I certainly know that its unfair to try and sabotage a film this way. Its distasteful and no film should be subjected to this. As part of the industry, Id certainly not want Tollywood to encourage this trend.
