Soumitra as Feluda will be etched on our minds forever: Birsa Dasgupta

Not many people remember that

filmmaker Birsa Dasgupta

’s grandfather,

Harisadhan Dasgupta

, directed Soumitra Chatterjee in Eki Onge Eto Roop. Talking about the film, Birsa said, “Very early in his career, Soumitra Chattopadhyay played an antagonist in a niche but a gem of a film, titled Eki Onge Eto Roop directed by my grandfather Harisadhan Dasgupta. The young, angsty, feisty, crazy-romantic Soumen (his character name in the film), still remains one of my top three favourites Soumitra Chattopadhyay acts.”
Speaking about his other favourite films by the legend, the director recalled, “I think Apu, in Apur Sansar, is iconic. Simply because it's one of the most stunning debuts ever. Also, how Ray sets up Chattopadhyay as the thinking woman's sex symbol, is interesting. Whenever you think of a sleuth, the face that always comes to your mind is that of Soumitra's. "Shabbash Topshe", the Charminar puff and the mogojastro epitomize how a quintessential Bengali bhodrolok detective should be. Soumitra as

Feluda

will be etched on our minds forever. As they say, legends don’t die. They shine brighter in our mind and soul through their work and so will our Soumitra Chattopadhyay.”
