Soumik Haldar to direct Bibaho Obhijaan 2

The 2019 comedy Bibaho Obhijaan is set to get a sequel. Cinematographer Soumik Haldar, who has worked on hits such as Gumnaami and Guptodhoner Sondhane, will try his hands in direction with Bibaho Obhijaan 2. The shooting of the film is scheduled to start on November 8 and will wrap up by end of the month. The shoot will mostly be done in Thailand and partly in Kolkata.
Ankush, Rudranil Ghosh, Nusrat Fariaa, Sohini Sarkar, Anirban Bhattacharya and Priyanka Sarkar, who were part of the first film, will return for the sequel. Saurav Das, who recently made an impact with his role in Karnasubarner Guptodhon, will have a comedic presence in the sequel.
The first film, directed by Birsa Dasgupta and written by Rudranil, followed the misadventures of two friends who are frustrated with their married lives. The film was well-received by audiences and was lauded by critics for its easy humour. “I am nervous and excited at the same time. I hope I will do justice to the expectations people have of me. I believe filmmaking is about teamwork and I hope with the help of my cast and crew I will be able to direct a film that will be enjoyed by all.”
Will Soumik be the DoP of the film too? “Oh yes!” he said with a smile.
