Rainbow Jelly

. Named after the pioneer of Indian cinema, Hiralal Sen Award is given to the best Bengali film of the year. Around 25 jury members from all over the country selected the film after watching 10 other films including, Maati,

Pupa

, Jonaki and several others.

An elated Soukarya said, “Out of 10 eminent films of the year, my Rainbow Jelly has been awarded as the Best Bengali Film of 2018. We are grateful to each and every member of the jury team for choosing our film.” Soukarya also wanted to share the glory with the other filmmakers in the competition. “I would like to share the honour with the other nine fellow filmmakers who were also nominated,” he said.

Film personality Kiran Shantaram, son of V Shantaram, and editor Arghakamal Mitra handed over the award to Soukarya recently at a gathering in Kolkata. Last year, Mayurakshi bagged the Hiralal Sen Award for the best film.
