What keeps you from those meaty offers?I'm not a star kid. I have no godfather. I have no scandalous link ups. Earlier, people knew me as a VJ-singer. There were set notions about my skills. Despite no one manoeuvring or managing my work, I'm proud of my achievements.
Coming to your latest big screen coup, do you think you'll get lost in the multitude? No way.
The makers are known for their comic capers and every character is well etched. I don't think anyone will fail to notice me since I'm the only hottie in red in the posters!
Did you know that your latest outing is an official remake of Death at a Funeral?Yes, we knew that they were officially acquiring the rights. But my character is a new addition!
What are the other additions to your career? There's Chintuji. I'd love to work in a Bangla film by Rituparno Ghosh. I haven't called on him but might do so when Alibaug releases. I think he'll like me in it! There's also my solo album which sees an Oct release.
Won't doing a film in Bangla act as a language barrier? I speak glib English, Hindi, French, Urdu and Italian. We used to have a place in Ballygunge. A little polish is all I need to speak fluent Bangla.
Moving back to your hottie image, are you okay with the label? Why not? I know many from the industry are surrendering the girl-next-door image. Ironically, I'm nowhere close to my blazing on-screen avatar. Post-Alibaug, people might conclude that a hottie can also be a tragedy queen on-screen. My mom calls me Meena Kumari. I'm both touchy and theatrical.
Maybe your on-screen avatar misleads people into typecasting you, the recent hook up with Peter Andre being a case in point...My co-stars have been linked to almost everyone they've worked with. I've been lucky since my name is associated with either married or attached men. In Peter's case, we got on well at the awards event and were outfitted by the same designer. When two attractive people are walking the red carpet and sharing a comfort level, it shows up. Maybe, that got tongues wagging. But married or attached men aren't my squeeze.
What would it take to worm one's way into Sophie's life?I'm a die-hard romantic. It has to be a full-on romance, complete with the wine and dine and flower thingy. He needs to have understated confidence. If he's a good dancer, that's a bonus. I'd probably pick someone from a business background.
