Nine years ago they had shared the screen in
Raj Chakraborty directed ‘Bojhena Se Bojhena’. Then they did films like 'Bangali Babu English Mem', 'Golpo Holeo Shotti' and now, after all these years
Mimi Chakraborty and
Soham Chakraborty are gearing up for their next releases in May, but not opposite each other. While
Mimi
plays the lead in Mainak Bhaumik’s ‘Mini’,
Soham
will be seen playing the titular character in Rajdeep Ghosh’s ‘Kolkatar Harry’. Despite people calling it a box office clash Soham says there’s no place for business fight between them, instead, it’s a healthy competition.
“Please don’t call it a fight. I see this as friendship and healthy completion. Bengali film industry had to fight a lot against COVID in the past two years. And now shooting has resumed, new announcements are being done, films are releasing in theatres and people are going back to theatres – what else can we expect? It’s a big relief for us. There will always be healthy competition but being a part of this industry we can’t take this to such an extent that can harm each other’s film. We all have to support each other,” shares Soham who has always been one of the most humble persons in
Tollywood
.
The actor-politician also shares that when he saw Dev is releasing his much-anticipated ‘Kishmish’ on April 29 he made a big decision regarding the release of ‘Kolkatar Harry’s which is being produced under the banner of his home production as well. “When Dev decided to release on April 29 I thought ‘Kolkatar Harry’s release will have to be either before or after the release of Kishmish. The industry will only grow if you give each other this much-needed space. Although ‘Mini’ and ‘Kolkatar Harry’ releasing on the same day these two films deals with completely different subjects. All I want to urge the audience is just like you chalk out plans for pandal hopping during Durga puja you can watch ‘Kolkatar Harry’ on Friday and ‘Mini’ on Saturday or vice versa,” added Soham.
Soham Chakraborty and
Priyanka Sarkar have paired up for ‘Kolkatar Harry’, a children’s family drama that bridges the gap between magic and realism. It’s a story about a pool car driver, who works for the primary section of a convent school. This driver, Harinath Patra has an instinctive quality of story-telling. Harinath being a fan of the fairytales and especially the Harry Potter series has a hobby of showing magic on the streets of Calcutta. While the film’s story, screenplay and dialogues are by Rahul and Soumya, Gopi Bhagat is the DOP and
Jeet Gannguli has composed music for this film.
