Since childhood I've watched my mother feed stray animals: Anusha
An emotion like love also comes with baggages these days. But not when it is a bond between humans and their pets. Young actress Anusha Viswanathan has learnt to love animals, both pets and strays, since her childhood. Her mother, Madhumanti, is her inspiration. "I have watched my mother feed strays since the time I have known her. It's an extremely dedicated task and I accompany her at times. She loves them and I have come to love them too," said Anusha.

The actress is proud that she gets to associate herself with her mother's work even if at times. "She feeds stray dogs and cats along the Southern Avenue and Gariahat stretch. We stay on Southern Avenue. So, she covers the entire Lake area - both inside and outside, the Anderson Club stretch, Padmapukur and Cookie Jar on Southern Avenue," Anusha shared. This work intensified during the lockdown last year. "All the shops were closed during the lockdown. And the strays hardly got leftover food. That is when we decided to do it everyday for the poor animals," Anusha said. The actress also keeps a stray at home. "She is a dog, Soni, whom we nursed back to health after she was hurt. She had a uterine surgery and then her ovaries were not removed properly. We slso feared cancer. But she survived and we didn't want to let it go," smiled Anusha.
