Shubh Mukherjee in Sanghamitra Chaudhuri's next

Shakal Pe Mat Ja'. With a mind of his own, Shubh Mukherjee has his priorities right. The actor-writer, breezed through town on Thursday. And even as he savoured the sights and sounds of Kolkata on his first 'major trip' here, Shubh opened up about his dreams, desires and aspirations.
'This trip had been long overdue,' he said. 'My father is from here and yes, I'm Bengali.My parents, however, think that I and my brother are a disgrace, they think we cannot speak the language. But I'm good at it and even better than what my parents make it out to be.'
On a break before moving on to his next, Shubh decided to mix business with pleasure. 'I'm doing Sanghamitra Chaudhuri's 'Strings Of Passion' and also her next, a Bengali film. I'm kicked about the idea,' he reasoned. So Shubh will be speaking in Bengali for this one, right? 'The film will serve a dual purpose. I get to prove to my parents that I'm good in Bengali,' he said.
Having written and directed a film, is it difficult or easy working in others' projects? 'If you have an open mind, share a comfort level with the person you are working with, nothing matters,' he said. It's this comfort zone that he has found with Sanghamitra, who he met through a friend a couple of years back. 'She shares my vision of cinema,' said Shubh.
'Predominantly an actor' Shubh is penning a couple of scripts, 'They are fiction. I might have had a limited audience for 'SPMJ' but they enjoyed the film. You can't do things people like. There will be hits and misses. It's the journey that matters.' Shubh's filmi journey has brought him a role in Arun Frank's English film.
Director Speak
'Strings of Passion', a Hindi film, deals with the story of three guys who meet after three years. They had a band in college called Strings of Passion. They travel back in time to find out what went wrong during their teenage years. It also deals with gay rape. My next Bengali film's an action love story. I have penned the story and Shubh plays the lead.
