Do you experience extreme frights and aversions to an object or a situation, exposure to which can cause panic and paranoia? In fact, millions of people across the world harbour phobias of different kinds. There have been quite a few films that have tapped into this fear. Debutant director Piyush Chatterjee’s latest release ‘Phobia’ also talks about overcoming fear.
The story of fear in every human being from different situations forms the crux of the story in this short film. It’s already out on YouTube and receiving a lot of appreciation from one and all.
Starring Rana Bhattacharya, Reema Mondal, Mrinal Das Subhdeep and Deep in pivotal roles, the plot follows a young boy Rana who, unable to overcome a thousand crises in his life, becomes a victim of society. His girlfriend suddenly gives him an ultimatum. If they don’t get married within 2 months the relationship is over. The shocking turn of events turns Rana’s life upside down. He can't bear with the thought that his girlfriend will leave him and marry someone else unless he does something. Out of the fear of losing the love of his life Rana takes a drastic decision and kills his girlfriend. What happens next forms the crux of the story.
“Phobia is a very important psychological issue which needs to be discussed which plays a very important part of our day to day life and we should overcome it. My film shows how to overcome it” the director had earlier said while speaking about the film.
The short film has one song ‘Koto ta kothin’ sung by Supratik Bhattacharya and composed by Tanmoy Sadhak. While the screenplay and dialogues are by Piyush Chatterjee himself, the story is penned by Prashant Das.
