The plot of this movie is reportedly about the controversial change that Mahalaya went through in 1976 as Bengal’s matinee idol Uttam Kumar replaced legendary Birendra Krishna Bhadra.

As per reports, Jisshu Sengupta will portray Uttam Kumar while Subhamoy Chatterjee will play Pankaj Mullick and

Subhashish Mukherjee

to take on Birendra Krishna Bhadra's role. We have seen Jisshu playing Kumar's role previously as the sleuth character

Byomkesh Bakshi

in Anjan Dutt’s

‘Byomkesh O Chiriyakhana’

. ‘Mahalaya’ will also have popular actor Prosenjit Chatterjee as a producer, who is believed to be playing an important character in the upcoming Bengali drama.
