Director
Sandip Ray was in Brazil from November 10 to shoot for
Professor Shonku
O El Dorado based on
Satyajit Ray’s story Nakur Babu O El Dorado.
Dhritiman Chatterjee portrays the protagonist, Professor Shonku, in the film. But now we hear that they had to return to Kolkata on December 1, despite 40% of the film left to shoot. This is because Dhritiman Chatterjee fell ill. “We started shooting from November 15. But Dhritiman da fell sick so we had to put the shoot on hold as he plays the titular character. We resumed our shoot only when he felt better. But unfortunately, Dhritiman da faced medical emergencies yet again. We shot at Sao Paulo and Manaus. We will have to go back to Brazil to shoot the rest of the film,” said the director.
Assembly Election Results
Going back to Brazil will only increase the film’s budget. When we asked producer Shrikant Mohta about this, he said, “Medical emergencies are unforeseen. No one can do anything about it. But we can assure the film will release as scheduled — that is December next year. We will discuss with Babu da (Sandip Ray) and the directorial team as to when they can go to Brazil to complete the shoot.”
