Shieladitya Moulik’s latest short film ‘Eye Candy’, starring Prantik Banerjee and Sohini Sarkar as a blind couple, explores the love and longing of a couple chatting on a video call.
It’s really an interesting idea to plot them in video chat, as they both are blind. They don’t even stop from behaving like they can see everything perfectly. Like, Sohini points out that Prantik is wearing the same black t-shirt.

It shows how well they know each other, despite not being able to see each other.
Throughout the conversation, the couple, two innocent souls, shares the plight of loneliness during this lockdown. Once, the girl expresses her wish to touch her lover, the only way she can actually feel him. However, the young man consoles her with sweet and loving words.
The couple never regrets their blindness, rather laugh at each other when Sohini’s character reveals she has heard a neighbour talking about her loved one, saying, it’s been long they have seen each other.
‘Eye Candy’ could have been a boring recording of a couple’s video chat if they were not blind. It is their lack of sight that turns this short film an interesting story.
