Shaheb Chattopadhyay, who is back on the small screen for a reality show on music, has also bagged three plum big screen deals.Shaheb Chattopadhyay is back. On the small screen that is. The actor will be anchoring a non-fiction reality show, titled Sa Theke Sa Junior.
The actor decodes why he chose a comeback, I love kids.
With the programme dealing with little wonders, there was no reason to say no. Another prime factor was because it had to do with music. To the uninitiated, I started my career on a song. Both music and acting are my passion and profession. Shaheb sans these two is incomplete. In fact, had it been a gameshow, I would have disagreed.
The actor has already shot for 20 episodes and has six more to go in the first lot.
Ask Shaheb why he had forsaken television in the first place and he answers, Any actor would want to expand his medium. There cannot be a discrimination between the small and the big screen. Hence, I cannot be choosy about the medium. My ambition in life is to be a good artiste. But television requires bulk dates, which was not feasible for me. I was hardpressed for time.
If that be the case, then what brings him back on the small screen, one wonders. To this, he explains, This shoot happens over a span of three months. I give bulk dates, shoot for the same and my task is done. I am free to move on to the next.
And the actor, who has a string of releases lined up, has moved on to bag three plum big screen projects. Shaheb lists his releases, Theres Teen Tanaya by Shukla Mitra, where I am paired opposite Rupanjana. I have also done the playback for two songs here. Brishtir Chayachhobi directed by Dulal Lahiri and based on Manoj Mitras story, has me opposite Rituparna Sengupta. Next up for release is Basu Chatterjees Kalidas O Chemistry opposite Sreelekha. This film is the Bengali remake of the directors Hindi Dillagi starring
Hema Malini and Dharmendra. I am the Sanskrit professor in the film.
These apart, there are Riingos murder mystery, Cottage , Tumi Jodi Amar Hote opposite Rituparna and Ferdous, Megh Brishtir Khela opposite Rituparna again and Ekti Nodir Golpo opposite Ananya. Last but not the least, theres Sudhu Tomakey Chai opposite Mumtaz and Soumilee, Shaheb reveals.
As for his new projects, the actor has bagged Partho Ghoshs Bhalobashar Cross Connection, which is a triangular love story. There are two heroes and a heroine and I play one of the heroes. My character is also called Shaheb. I gave my nod to this project as I loved the script, banner and of course, the director. The project also features Tapas Paul and Satabdi Roy, adds Shaheb.
Then there is Tathagata Bhattacherjees Seven Days, a crime thriller opposite Moubani and Sreelekha. Interestingly, I play a DJ by the name of Ringo, the actor continues. Having worked with both the Sorcar sisters Shaheb has high regard for their acting caliber. He says, Both are extremely talented. Theres a lot to learn from them.
Shaheb is also part of Rishavs Somporko, which isnt exactly a mainstream film. I have consciously streered clear of being typecast. And hence, experimented with roles. I always believe in being part of projects that will help me blossom as an actor , says the actor in all earnestness.
