Shaheb Chattopadhyay
, who replaced Bangladeshi actor Ferdous in Nirmal Chakravorty's Datta, is all geared up to play the role of Bibhas. But this isn't the first time that he will be part of an adaptation of the
Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay
novel. "I forayed into the television industry in 2002. Soon after, I was roped in for Datta, which was aired on Doordarshan. I played Naren in that. It was a fulfilling experience at the early stage of my career," he said.
Talking about how he came on board this film, Shaheb said, "Ritu (Rituparna Sengupta) and I go back a long way. We have worked in many films together. In fact, she is my best friend in the film industry. So, when she asked me to do the film, I happily obliged. The best part is that I will be working with her, as Ritu will be seen in the title role." The film was already on the floors before visa issues cropped up for Ferdous. The actor was seen at a political rally ahead of the
Lok Sabha
polls in India.
Putting things behind, Shaheb is all set to make a new beginning. "We were all set to begin the shoot in the first week of November. But because of certain technical problems, the shoot had to be pushed back. We are likely to begin the shoot in December, as Ritu is out of the country. I spoke to her on Tuesday and have discussed the nitty-gritty of the shoot," he added.
