The fifth edition of the Hyderabad Bengali Film Festival (HBFF) kickstarted yesterday at the Prasad Studios where interdisciplinary artist Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee was the anchor. The guest of honour at the festival was legendary filmmaker Tarun Majumder who will also be felicitated in a special session dedicated to him at the film fest.
The opening night saw the screening of Iye directed by thespian Debesh Chattopadhyay. The film was appreciated by many who attended the festival in large numbers. Seen among the many were actress Arpita Ghosh, actor Rajdeep Gupta, director duo Sudeshna Roy and Abhijit Guha, filmmaker Sekhar Das and Marathi filmmaker Omkar Shetty, among others.
Speaking on the association, Debesh Chattopadhyay said, "It is quite a homecoming for me and I have been a part of this for the last four years. My film Natoker Moto won an award here last year." HBFF 2018 closes on Sunday with the screening of
Atanu Ghosh's National Award-winning film, Mayurakshi.
