The seasoned actor who will soon be seen as a fierce cop in the upcoming web series ‘Abar Proloy’ shares with ETimes that workshops provide a structured learning environment where actors can receive guidance from experienced professionals. “Acting is a craft that requires continuous improvement, and workshops offer a space for actors to explore various techniques, receive feedback, and refine their performances. Through workshops, actors can gain valuable insights, learn new acting methods, and expand their repertoire,” shared Saswata.

The seasoned actor also believes that workshops allow actors to collaborate and network with other industry professionals, “These interactions provide opportunities for actors to learn from their peers, share experiences, and build connections. The relationships formed during workshops can lead to future collaborations, recommendations, and increased exposure within the industry. Workshops also expose young actors to diverse genres and styles of acting. By exploring a range of techniques, such as method acting, improvisation, or classical training, actors can develop a versatile skill set. This versatility enhances their adaptability, enabling them to tackle a wider variety of roles with confidence and authenticity.”

He also mentions the importance of incorporating practical exercises and scene work, which simulate real-world acting scenarios, “These hands-on experiences enable actors to apply their skills in a safe and supportive environment. Through rehearsal and performance, actors can refine their emotional range, physicality, vocal projection, and character development. Another significant aspect of acting workshops is the opportunity to receive constructive feedback from industry professionals. Acting coaches and directors can provide invaluable insights, helping actors identify their strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement. This feedback allows actors to gain self-awareness and make necessary adjustments to enhance their performances.”

And, then there are discipline, dedication, and commitment. How can we forget that? Saswata adds that the rigorous training and practice required in workshops instill a strong work ethic in actors. By attending workshops regularly, young actors cultivate a professional mindset, develop good habits, and learn the importance of continuous learning and growth.
