Finally some good news for all those detective
Shabor
fans. After much delay,
Arindam Sil’s one of the most anticipated detective thrillers ‘
Tirandaj Shabor
’ has locked a release date. If everything goes according to plan, it will hit the big screens on May 27.
Arindam is quite happy that
Saswata Chatterjee, who reprises the role of Shabor Dasgupta in the film, lost weight in time and was into full fitness during the shooting. Saswata, too, is quite excited to reprise his all-time favourite character since detective Shabor Dasgupta has huge popularity among cine buffs.
“Over the past few years, so many actors have played
Byomkesh
and
Feluda
. So people are confused (smiles). Shabor is the only detective character that has been stuck with me. For the audience, Shabor means Saswata. People have showered love on the previous three films. And now, the fourth one is coming out. It feels great to be back among people as Shabor Dasgupta.
Speaking about the cast of ‘Tirandaj Shabor’, the director further adds: “Saswata Chatterjee, Subhrajit,
Devlina Kumar,
Padmanabha Dasgupta, Joydip Kundu,
Anirban Chakraborti
, Shankar Chakraborty, Debjani Chatterjee and many more are in this film. There will be a really special actor in a crucial character which remains a surprise. I will also introduce Rammani who is a brilliant dancer and she plays one of the important characters.” Interestingly,
Nigel Akkara will be seen in an important role of a taxi driver in the film. This is the first time the talented actor is working with Arindam.
When asked what’s the main difference between his next one and the previous Shabor films Arindam reveals the entire approach and treatment will be completely different: “You would find so many elements. There is love story, there is crime… and some high-octane action sequences.” The film has been shot in Maithon, Kolkata and Asansol.
