Sanjoy Nag to make an acting debut

While director Rituparno Ghosh turned actor forSanjoy Nag���������s ���������Memories in March��������� that releases on April 1,Sanjoy has now faced the camera for Rituparno Ghosh���������s ���������Chitrangada:The Crowning Wish��������� . In fact, this is perhaps the first timein the history of Indian cinema that two back-to-back projects of twofilm-makers will have them swapping roles in each other���������s movies. AskSanjoy why he took up acting and he says, ���������The director insisted that Iplay the role. Everyone in the unit agreed that I ought to accept it. I alsodidn���������t want to miss out on the opportunity of being directed byRitu.��������� In the film, Sanjoy plays a photographer called Rohit.���������It is a very interesting and important role,��������� says Sanjoy, who hasjust returned from Konarak after shooting his portions in the film.Incidentally, Sanjoy has played three different roles in relation to projectsinvolving Rituparno. While in ���������MIM��������� he has directed Rituparno,���������Chitrangada��������� has him as associate director and a co-actor ofRituparno. So, how does it feel to indulge in such role-playing? ���������Ritu ismy first director. It was strange, weird and funny. All this while, I was theone directing him. It was an honourable barter/trade off. I have directed him in���������MIM���������. He has his own way of dealing with actors based onassessments of that particular actor. Moreover, it helped him since he haswritten the script as well. As a coactor, he is a delight to work with.That���������s probably because of his directorial skills. He guides and helps theco-actors all through the movie,��������� Sanjoy says, before getting busy withhis shooting in Kolkata on Monday.
