Less than a month before its release, makers of Jhumuraare dragged into a controversy they would have been happier to avoid. Sanjay of Brahmakhyapa, who was set to make his Tollywood debut as a composer, has allegedly left for Santiniketan, leaving the work incomplete.
Jhumura, a story of love and separation, aims to reflect on the existential crisis that folk music in Bengal faces today.

Obviously then, music plays as important a part in the movie as its actors. Says debutant director Anindya Chatterjee, Sanjayda was entrusted with the responsibility of the soundscape right after the film was conceived. But all he made were the first scratches. A lot of work needed to be done on the music and Sanjayda was hardly available to helm the state of affairs. In fact, he wouldn't even receive our calls on many occasions."
Desperate times call for desperate measures and Anindya had to ask friends Pijush Chakraborty and Subrata Das to take charge. They composed the numbers sung by Rupam and Sayak, apart from scoring the background. In fact, on one occasion, when I went to Sanjayda's house to get the music files, he said he couldn't find them! All this after 70% of the payment was made to him," explains Anindya.
Sanjay, on his part, reasons that he was not informed about the developments. The makers went ahead with the songs without my knowledge," he says. Anindya, however, is trying to avoid an ugly spat. My producers have asked me to give credit to Sanjayda in the film, which also has a song by Malabika," says Anindya. When have I run after name or fame?" quips Sanjay , currently out of town. If insiders are to be believed, here's a composer, who is taking his 'Khyapa' tag a tad too seriously!
