The actor had a bad fall as he mounted a camel while shooting for Aniket Chattopadhyays Gorai Gondogol in RajasthanIt was gongodol from the word go for
Rahul, who was recently in Rajasthan shooting for his next. The actor met with an accident trying to mount a camel for Aniket Chattopadhyays Gorai Gondogol.
Reel met real during the shoot, explains director
Aniket Chattopadhyay.
As part of a sequence, being shot at Khuri sand dune, Rahul was supposed to face problems while trying to mount a camel for the first time. In contrast, Sampurna was supposed to do a perfect job. I had deliberately asked Rahul not to rehearse before the final shot as I wanted to capture the discomfort in his face.
He had agreed. I was so engrossed in canning the shot that I didnt realize that Rahul was actually falling off the camel and not just acting! He too never said a word. Suddenly, I saw the whole unit running to save him as they screamed, Aniketda, Rahul porey jachhe. Cut, cut. I too rushed towards him. By then Rahul had badly hurt his hand. I even asked him, Why didnt you call for help? Rahul, who was in immense pain, said, Dada, I wanted the shot to be natural! Dont worry about my injury, hope the shot was one-take okay!, said Aniket.
More was in store for the team. Khuri sand dune is known to be a no-rainfall zone, but as luck would have it, the day we were about to can the shots, it started pouring and we had to cancel the shoot. But in spite of Rahuls injury and the rain, the shoot went on well, added the director.
Sampurna, on her part, explains how scared she was to see Rahul fall from the camel. The actor, who plays Rahuls wife in the film, said, We were in the same frame when Rahul was trying hard to mount the camel. I could see him fall and the excruciating pain was evident in his eyes. But I failed to figure out whether he was acting or not! I shouted when I realized the situation was going out of control.
Rahul, however, is not in favour of playing up the incident. It was a lifetime experience as mounting a camel is extremely tough. And when you fall, you dont know how to save yourself. I am happy that Aniketda got a natural shot for the film, smiled the actor.
Seems like theres no pleasure without pain!
