After being shelved for nearly five months, ‘Datta’ will start again in December. Nirmal had waited for Ferdous for months. He was hopeful about his return but it’s time to move on. Ferdous was in India to shoot for Datta in April. Only 10% of the film’s shoot, which began in April this year in Bolpur, was wrapped up. During his visit here, Ferdous was present at a political rally campaigning for a TMC candidate. After that incident, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) blacklisted him from making any further visit to India. The decision was based on a report from Bureau of Immigration regarding visa violations committed by the Bangladeshi star. Ferdous was then sent back to Bangladesh. The film was since then stuck in a limbo.

“I started the shoot with Ferdous as Bilas. But later, he had some visa issues. We have waited for nearly six months; tried everything to get him back. But it didn’t work out, so we finally decided to cast Saheb Chatterjee replacing Ferdous. I will resume the shoot from December,” said Nirmal Chakravarty.

‘Datta’ is based on

Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay

’s iconic novel by the same name and starts Rituparna Sengupta as the female lead.
