Saayoni to star in a horror film

Saayoni Ghosh is all set to work in director Abhirup Ghosh’s next project, Brombhodoityo. After the critically acclaimed thriller, K: Secret Eye, Abhirup is gearing up for this horror film.

The story revolves around a young research scholar, Sayantika, played by Saayoni, who is researching on supernatural figures found in Bengali folklore and fairy tales. Things start getting complicated when she orders a small statue of vintage Brombhodoityo from a mysterious website. What happens next forms the crux of the film. Anindya Chatterjee, Sourav Saha, Soumen Bose, Soumalya Dutta are also part of the film, while actor Rudranil Ghosh will be seen in a cameo.

When asked, one of the crew members said that the film is about the forgotten ghosts of Bengal. We celebrate Halloween but we forgot about our very own Mamdo, Brahmadotti, Shakchunni and others. So, this is a story that will remind you of them. The talented actress was last seen in two critically acclaimed films, Atithi and Sakkhi, which earned her accolades for delivering praiseworthy performances.

She was also seen in Subhendu Pandit’s Wrong Number. A host of actors, including Samadarshi Dutta, Sourav Das, Saayoni Ghosh, Durga, Biswajit Chakraborty, Bharat Kaul and Tulika Basu, worked together in the film. The story was about two roommates who share a rented flat — Sandy and Joy. While Sandy belongs to a well-off family, Joy is a part-time Bengali teacher, who dreams of becoming a professional writer. Coming from a middle-class background, he is diametrically opposite to Sandy. One day, Sandy uploads a song on YouTube that has Joy’s lyrics and the song becomes popular. The story takes a turn from there.
