There’s no doubt Rupankar Bagchi is going through the toughest time of his life. Ever since his comment on late singer KK kicked up the controversy his life has changed forever. Once he used to be busy all year recording film songs or performing live on stage. However, things have changed now. Organizers are skeptical about arranging his live shows. Rupankar’s quite a few upcoming shows have been canceled already and now we hear he has been replaced by another singer for a Bengali film song.

According to reports, Rupankar was supposed to sing for an upcoming Bengali film ‘Prothom Bare Prothom Dekha’ (First Sight For The First Time). Even Rupankar had completed recording the song. Now, the buzz is strong that the song recorded by Rupankar was recently dropped from the editing table and will be re-recorded with someone else. Speculation is rife that the new singer is Arijit Singh. Everybody is curious whether the KK debate has inflicted the latest damage.
Meanwhile, the director of the film, Akash Malakar, has admitted that a song from their film was recorded earlier by Rupankar but at the editing table they realized that the singer’s voice is not matching with the male lead of the film. Since the story of the film is about teenagers Rupankar’s voice looks a bit odd. That’s why the makers decided that Arijit Singh’s voice will be perfect.
However, Tollywood is abuzz with speculations suggesting the reason is different despite whatever the director is saying. Many believe that a portion of the music industry now wants to keep a distance from Rupankar due to the controversy. Perhaps that’s why the song sung by Rupankar was scrapped.

Meanwhile, Tochan Ghosh who has been arranging shows for Kolkata-Mumbai artists in the city for more than thirty years admits the situation is sensitive and it will be difficult to arrange a big show with Rupankar at least for the next six months.
