Rupam touched by Nagarkirtan

National Award-winning singer Rupam Islam recently watched Nagarkirtan and was touched by it. Rupam, who had to skip three screenings owing to his health issues and other work commitments, finally watched the film at its special screening. “I was down with fever and could not make it to one of the screenings. After that, I was caught up with work. But today, I just had to come,” said the singer.Rupam said he usually doesn’t miss a Kaushik Ganguly film. “I watch movies made by him and Nagarkirtan is special because it has already bagged four National Film Awards. The actors in the film happen to be my friends and what do I say about their performances! They are all fantastic. It’s a ‘champion’ film that I am hoping everyone will watch,” he said. Nagarkirtan is a love story between a eunuch, Puti, and a delivery boy with a Chinese restaurant, Madhu. Kaushik, who was present at the special screening along with actor Riddhi Sen, said he was happy to share the auditorium with the audience who had bought tickets to watch the film. “It’s an honour to be holding the special screening at a theatre with which I have many memories. My first film, Waarish, premiered here and as a child, I watched Haathi Mere Saathi at this theatre,” he added.
