Rudranil Ghosh in Buddhadeb's next

Buddhadeb Dasgupta has finished the casting for his next film titled ���������Anwar Er Ashchorjo Kahini��������� (���������The Strange Tale of Anwar���������). Apart from Indraneil Sengupta, the director has cast Rudranil Ghosh, Priyanka Sarkar and even, Calcutta Times Fresh Face 2009 finalist Jhilik Bhattacharya.
Speaking about his choice of actors, Dasgupta says, ���������Though I���������ve not watched Rudranil���������s films, I���������m told he is a fine actor.Besides, I also didn���������t want to cast a star to play the sleuth.���������
As for casting Priyanka Sarkar in a girl-next-door role, Dasgupta went by his conviction since he felt that Priyanka looked the part. Incidentally, Priyanka���������s character is haunted by the memories of his father who had committed suicide when she was a child. Since the cops don���������t want to take up an old case, she hires the services of an investigator (Rudranil) to get to the bottom of the truth.
In Jhilik���������s case, Dasgupta has cast her in the role of a girl who is about to get married even though she is still in a relationship with another guy. In her character���������s case, the
investigator is hired by the groom���������s side to get her a character certificate. ���������I haven���������t watched Priyanka���������s films but I think she suits the role. As for Jhilik, it���������s a small role. My film opens with her episode,��������� Dasgupta adds.
The director, however, isn���������t keen on divulging details much about Indraneil���������s character. ���������Indraneil has a very important role in the film though his screen presence isn���������t for too long. Once Indraneil and Rudranil���������s characters meet each other, their lives take a very different turn,��������� the director adds.
Barring Indraneil, who made his debut with ���������Janala���������, this will be the first time that Dasgupta will be working with Rudranil, Priyanka and Jhilik. Says Rudranil, ���������It���������s a privilege for me to be cast by someone of Buddhadeb Dasgupta���������s stature. His canvas is very lyrical. Till today, every character has been important for me irrespective of its screen length. As a hungry actor, I am always searching for good roles. I would want to play the role just the way Buddhada has visualised it while writing the story,��������� says Rudranil, who was recently gifted a leather jacket of and by Naseeruddin Shah for the young actor���������s performance in ���������Michael���������.
Jhilik, who is a second year student of Sivanath Sastri College, can���������t believe her luck when he heard that she has bagged Dasgupta���������s film. ���������I was pinching myself to believe the news. Yes, I am a little scared about doing a film with such a veteran director. Yet, I feel this is the best Puja gift that I have got in my life,��������� says Jhilik, who has already done
another film called ���������Identity��������� with Subhasish Mukherjee.
Meanwhile, Priyanka Sarkar is thrilled too. ���������I am a huge fan of Buddhada���������s movies. He had called me over to his office, discussed my projects and said he had liked meeting me. Neither do I know much about my role nor do I want to find out. I trust him blindly and would do any part in his film. Besides, Indraneil, my co-star in ���������Jodi Ekdin��������� is also there in the movie apart from Rudrada.���������
While shooting for the film will begin from November 1 and continue till November 16, the portions in Kolkata will be shot from November 24 and continue till December 16. Priyanka, who is supposed to tie the knot on November 18, will shoot this film and ���������Ami Vs Tumi��������� after she is back from her honeymoon.
