Roopa's the right choice: Riingo
Let bygones be bygones and work as professionals is what was decided upon when Riingo decided to cast Roopa Ganguly and Dibyendu Mukherjee in his next feature film.
The movie, which was earlier titled 'Bikele Bhorer Phul', has now been rechristened as 'Na Hanyate'. While Roopa plays the title role in the film, Dibyendu has been cast as the love interest of Roopa's daughter.

The latter will be using a new name ' Sriram Yusouf ' as he makes his debut as a music composer for this movie that also launches Riingo's real-life partner (Sayani Datta) as Dibyendu's girl friend.
Shooting for the film will begin in November-end. Says Riingo, 'The film traces the journey of a woman across 30 years. The worst of the odds have come her way. The biggest challenge for a mother is when she has to choose between her children and keep one with herself and leave the other to die. As a mother, Roopa faces this choice and this leads to a lot of guilt and remorse in her when she realizes that her decision might not have been correct. I was inspired to come up with this plot after I read Zhang Ling's essay titled The Great Tangshan Earthquake. Initially, we had wanted to go with the title of 'BBP' but our team felt that since there exists a film by that name, it could lead to confusion. 'Na Hanayette' means it never dies and through the title, we are trying to suggest that the mother and daughter relations can never die either.'
Ask Riingo about his choice of cast and he says, 'Roopa is a competent actor and just the right choice for this role. I needed an actor who is an attractive mix of flamboyance and quietness. Dibyendu fit the bill and I have given him a makeover for the role. While Rahul will play Roopa's son, Priyanka Sarkar will be playing his wife in the movie that will also have Chaiti Ghoshal and Debshankar Halder playing pivotal roles.'
Says Roopa, 'I am very happy to play the protagonist in 'NH'. The role is challenging and the film travels with me for three decades. This is my first film with Riingo though we did television together. In fact, his television debut was with me. So, I guess, it makes this project special again for both of us.'
Cast? Riingo's call
Ask Riingo why he is launching Sayani in the role of Roopa's daughter and he says, 'Sayani has studied at the
London School of Drama and is now taking regular acting lessons from Sohag Sen. She has been part of my team for three years now and has seen how Tollywood functions. She is just right for playing this role.'
Sayani, on her part, says, 'I used to do drama in London and I understand that acting in films is a different chapter altogether. Hence, I am taking lessons here. Roopa is a very polished actor but I will give my best to the role as a newcomer. As for Riingo, he is a difficult director to work with since he insists on perfection. I am both happy and scared to be working with him. However, our real-life relationship will not be a factor while we are working professionally.'
Dibyendu, of course, is very excited about this movie. Says the actor-composer, 'I have already recorded six songs for the film with Srikanto Acharya, Lopamudra Mitra, Somlata, Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta and Raghab Chatterjee. I am also singing in the film. Since this movie is pitching me in a completely new way, Riingoda took a call to give me a fresh identity. He chose the name of Sriram Yusouf and I am fine with this moniker.' As for acting in a film with Roopa, he says, 'It's a director's call to decide on the cast. Roopa and I have chosen different paths in lives but I wish her well in personal and professional capacity. As a professional, I've no problems doing this movie that has her in the lead.'
What about the buzz that he will soon be going to Mumbai to sign on Anurag Basu's next that is supposed to have SRK in the lead? 'Anurag had informally told me about composing for his next movie. I will be going to Mumbai this week to meet him and find out what plans he has for me,' he signs off.
