After ���������Antarghat��������� and ���������7 Days���������, director Tathagata Bhattacharjee is busy shooting for ���������Astra���������, an action-packed film that stars Soumitra Chatterjee, Joy Mukherjee, Samapika Debnath, Shankar Chakraborty, Rajesh Sharma, Dipankar De, Biplab Chatterjee and others. The music has been scored by Debjit Bera.
���������The film shows a gangster (Joy) and how his life changes after he meets a journalist (Samapika).Love blossoms but Samapika has no clue about Joy���������s antecedents. When she finally finds out, there���������s a twist in the story. The film has both romance and action,��������� said Tathagata. ���������Soumitra has a vital role. He plays a Muslim man who gives shelter to Joy and becomes a father figure to him. Dipankar essays the role of a politician, while Rajesh will be seen as a policeman.���������
Samapika, who acted alongside Rudranil Ghosh in ���������Kaal��������� and ���������Hello Kolkata��������� has been cast opposite Joy for the first time. ���������It���������s fun working with Joy as he is extremely cooperative on the sets. I am in love with my character, a crime reporter. Barkha Dutt is my all-time favourite journo and I have tried to learn the mannerisms of a journalist by watching her on TV,��������� said Samapika.
