Riya Sen wishes her ‘Amma’ Suchitra Sen on her birth anniversary with a series of throwback photos

It is the birthday of Mahanayika Suchitra Sen. Riya Sen, actress and Suchitra Sen’s granddaughter, posted a series of throwback photos with the legendary actress on April 6th. Riya shared a bunch of black and white photos with Mahanayika on Instagram with an adorable wish for the late actress. Riya wrote on Instagram, “Amma, on your special day today, we want you to know how deeply you are missed and cherished. Your love and presence have left an indelible mark on our lives, shaping us into who we are today. We hold onto the memories of your infectious laughter, your tender kisses, and your cozy cuddles with so much love and gratitude. Happy birthday, Amma - your spirit and warmth continue to live on in our hearts.”

Suchitra Sen, the famous Indian actress worked in both Bengali and Hindi cinema. She was one of the most sought-after stars during her reign. Her pairing with Uttam Kumar on-screen was considered iconic. Suchitra Sen was the first Indian actress to receive an award at an international film festival when, at the 1963 Moscow International Film Festival, she won the Silver Prize for Best Actress for ‘Saat Pake Bandha’. She was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award in India in 1972. However, the legendary actress retreated from public life and shunned all forms of public contact from 1979 on. In 2005, she refused the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest cinematic award in India, to stay out of the public eye. She died in 2014, at the age of 82.

Suchitra Sen’s daughter Moonmoon Sen ventured into films following her mother’s footsteps. Riya Sen and Raima Sen are the granddaughters of Mahanayika Suchitra Sen. Both Riya and Raima have worked in films. However, Raima is the one who has been consistently working in the entertainment industry. Time and again – Raima has been compared to the legendary actress for bearing an uncanny resemblance to her grandmother. Raima has worked in films like ‘Noukadubi’, ‘Baishe Srabon’, ‘Dwitiyo Purush’. She was recently seen in ‘The Vaccine War’.
