Ritwick and Pradipta join hands for a musical animation

Ritwick Chakraborty and Pradipta Bhattacharyya are back together for a new project. This time, it is not for a feature film. It’s a musical short film sprinkled with animation. Ritwick plays the only live- action character and everything else in the frame will be recreated using computer graphics.

The 10-minute-long film features a groovy song composed by music director Anirban

Ajoy Das

. The song is sung by popular Bengali

playback singer

Dibyendu Mukherjee.

The film is largely shot using VFX. From characters to objects and backgrounds — visuals are being recreated through animation.

Pradipta, too, is pretty excited about the project. “The story revolves around a corporate man who yearns for a bit of ‘lyad’. It depicts Bengalis’ eternal love for lyad — the sluggish idleness. I’ve always taken a keen interest in animation. When I got the story pattern and was asked to work on Stop Motion animation, I was overjoyed. I’ve penned the script and my friend, Amit Bagchi, is working on the animation,” the director said.

“This is a new thing to me. It is quite interesting. We are shooting with chroma backdrop. I know Pradipta loves animation. I am also learning a lot,” said Ritwick.

While talking about the music, Anirban, who also penned the lyrics, said, “The music has a lot of fun elements in it. Earlier, one of my songs, Saiyaan, featured Soumitra Chatterjee, Lily Chakraborty and Gourav Chakrabarty. That was completely different from this one. I have never worked on anything like this before.

Ratul Shankar

has done the rhythm and Raja Chowdhury played the

guitar

. Debashish Shom helped in programming the song.”
