Director's core team of Arghyakamal Mitra, Avik Mukhopadhyay and Debajyoti Mishra set to interpret his vision for unfinished Satyanweshi It's not
Sujoy Ghosh or any other director.
Rituparno Ghosh's core team had offered to take charge of his unfinished
Satyanweshi. As CT had reported earlier, the production house ' Shree Venkatesh Films ' announced on Wednesday that the director's unit is set to wrap up the Bomkesh Bakshi thriller.
The team will be headed by editor Arghyakamal Mitra, cinematographer Avik Mukhopadhyay, composer Debajyoti Mishra and producer Shrikant Mohta.
Rituparno was all for collaborative work. 'My work doesn't end with composing for the film anymore. Once we are through with our bits, we'll have to watch the film and see if it falls in line with what Ritu had visualized,' says Debajyoti. There are three playbacks in the film ' Tagore's
Sukhohin nishidin, a classical
bandish sung by Arpita, and
Meghdoot. 'The
bandish was written by Ritu in Maithili. It goes like ' Taradim taradim bijuri ghana ghor/byakulo hiya dhunde tor. It takes off from Tagore's
Sukhohin nishidin, but has no further similarities. I've also composed three stanzas of Meghdoot, which Ritu really liked. In fact, he had wanted me to compose the whole of
Meghdoot for a future work. The orchestration for this composition is still left. Also, his films have a lot of vocals, which I'll have to incorporate,' said Debajyoti, who has plans to utilize the shehnai in this film to enhance the thriller elements, as he had done in
Shubho Mahurat. 'Ritu asked me if I could use the
sarangi in the film. He wanted elements of catastrophe in the theme music, which I'm yet to compose.'
Arghyakamal, who had began editing before the director's death, says he would take a couple of days more to finish the first draft. 'Dubbing will begin around June 25. It would be primarily conducted by Debabrata Dutta from Ritu's team. Simultaneously, the work on graphics will also be completed. Avik, on his part, will work on the digital colour correction. After that, sound designer
Biswadeep Chatterjee will take over,' he says.
Says Shrikant, 'The director had a brief for everyone in his team. That's the reason we decided to let his unit complete Satyanweshi. The film is expected to release a day before Rituparno Ghosh's birthday on August 31. It would be our tribute to the master filmmaker.'
