Rituparna's Bhalobashar Bari to screen in the US ahead of India

Rituparna Sengupta is excited about her next, Bhalobashar Bari. Why, you ask? In a first, the film will be screened in the USA before it releases in India. The films deals with Bhabatosh, a middle aged clerk in a jute mill, suddenly loses his job. His family faces dire distress. Buli, his elder daughter, educated but unemployed, frantically searches for a job and ultimately finds one at a tour operator's office. There, she notices one of her colleagues, Kalyan, a jovial young man who loves to chase away the blues of life with his inimitable sense of humour and wit. Little does Buli know that Kalyan is also a victim of personal tragedy which would eventually change his life forever. The young man conceals the deep wounds of his heart under the garb of joviality and lets nobody know about his personal anguish. The story is about the journey of struggles of these two.

Speaking of the film, Rituparna said, "It's a great feeling. It will first be screened in San Francisco on the 19th and in

New York

in September. It is a great endeavour on the part of Babli Chakrabarty and Dreamz Unlimited. Tarun Majumdar has made a musical romantic film with a strong social message. I think it's a true film with just the right Bengali emotions. His simplicity speaks volumes in the film — his deft handling of the simplest of emotions is one of the reasons his films always do commercially well. I play the character of a girl who is the sole breadwinner of the family. She is a rebel."

Music of the film, too, will click with the masses, thinks Rituparna. "Rabindrasangeet has always been an integral part of Tarun Majumdar's films. This time too he won't disappoint. At 85, he's made a beautiful film and I hope the audience likes it," added Ritu.
