Talking to us over the phone, the actress said, “Everyone used to call me daddy's girl. But Baba was extremely strict and he didn’t want me to join the film industry. So, for a long time, he used to accompany me to outdoor shoots. At times, when he couldn’t for his health, Baba used to ask ma to accompany me to the shoots. Then, when the mobile phone was introduced, he used to call me to ask whether I had lunch and when I would be back home. I miss those calls. For me, it was mandatory to call Baba after I reached my sets. The day I got married, Baba told my mother-in-law that she should scold me if I didn’t listen to her for working long hours. Baba always felt that I neglect my health.”
Talking about her father’s favourite films, where Rituparna has acted, she said, “Baba’s favourite films were Tarun Majumdar’s Alo, Rituparno Ghosh’s Dahan, Aparna Sen’s Paromitar Ekdin and many more. On his death anniversary today, ma makes it a point to make fish fry and Baba’s favourite jalebi.”
