Rituparna plays a doctor in Sujit Paul’s film

Atithi, starring

Rituparna

Sengupta, Pratik, Saayani Ghosh, Nishan, Biswanath Basu, Arindol Bagchi, Tulika Basu, Krishnakishor Mukherjee, Subhashis Mukherjee and others, is directed by

Sujit

Paul.

“I play a

doctor

who works for the patients of a

mental

asylum. My character’s name is Snigdha and she has a lot of shades. The

film

shows how she deals with each of the patients, while her own emotions take a back seat,” said Rituparna.

The story of Atithi is full of twists and turns. In this film, Dr Pranamay and his daughter Snigdha run a mental rehabilitation centre or ashram where some mentally disturbed patients are admitted. Dr Arindam (Pratik) who is a family friend, helps Dr Pranamay and Snigdha in the treatment of the patients. Here enters a young duo, Antim and Antara, who have lost their memory after an accident. The other patients of the ashram begin to think about the duo and their relationship. After a violent confrontation with a promoter’s gang, Antara gets wounded and is admitted to Dr Arindam’s nursing home. She regains her memory. Now the past of Antara and Antim is revealed and the film takes a turn.

Rituparna is also dubbing for Parcel, directed by Indrasish Acharya and Limelight by Reshmi Ghosh simultaneously. “I will start shooting for Anurag Basu’s Basuri from the third week of May, so I am finishing off my dubbing now. I enjoyed working with Saswata Chatterjee in Parcel where he plays my husband. In this film too I play a doctor. In Reshmi’s film, I have a double role and the film revolves around a junior artiste and a superstar,” said the actress.
