, but Rituparna Sengupta more than made up for it by wooing the cameras from the moment she walked in. “It was a great experience to work with Bratya Basu. He would scold me on spotting lipstick on my teeth and otherwise. But I always took them as words of encouragement,” said Rituparna. Bratya said the film, which is based on Moti Nandi’s eponymous novel, was challening as he plays a disabled man. “This is not the first time that I am part of a film based on Moti Nandi’s work. Sanjoy Nag’s Parapar, in which I was paired opposite Rituparna, was based on the author’s novel, Puber Janala. But this novel is closer to my heart. I think all his works inspire. I personally drew a lot of inspiration from his lines — Fight Koni fight (in Koni),” he said. Reshmi said her job was tough as one of her actors (Bratya) used to be bang on time, while the other (Ritu) came hours behind schedule! Baranda, also starring Manali Manisha Dey, premiered at KIFF on Sunday.
