If the buzz is to be believed, Mainak Bhaumik, who is known for his films on contemporary subjects, is now planning an out-and-out family drama celebrating the Bengali way of life. Says a source close to the director, 'Mainak loved Rituparna Sengupta's performance during the Galpo Oder shoot, which has unfortunately been put on the back burner.

Now, he is planning a Bengali family drama with the actress in the lead. The story revolves around a modern joint family , and shows how relatives who hardly keep in touch despite staying in the same locality , unite in the face of a crisis. Ritu will play the eldest daughter of the family , while Parno Mittra will play the youngest. He plans to cast Rahul as the youngest brother in the film, which will also have Soumitra Chatterjee in a pivotal role. Moreover, Paoli will be seen in a very crucial role as the wife of the eldest brother. The entire cast has not been finalized yet, as the film is in the initial stages of planning and the script is still being worked on. It will hopefully go on the floors in December-end."

When we spoke to Rituparna about the project, she said she likes the emerging trend in the industry. 'Mainak told me the concept and I liked it. I love the way Belasesheturned things around in the industry and shifted focus back to family dramas. I've been part of many family dramas and all have been blockbusters," she said with a smile.
