Ritabhari Chakraborty who had to gain 25 killos for her upcoming film ‘Fatafati’ has urged woman to acknowledge their body. The versatile actress, always vocal about body positivity, insists that every woman derives such a large part of her identity from her body. Yet we don't want to acknowledge the body, we don't want to acknowledge its desire and needs. We don't take adequate care of it.

She further said that the responsibilities of women's health lie not only with her but also with her family. According to her, families have to invest in the health of their women. If we want to be a progressive and successful nation, we must invest in the health of women.

However, the ‘Brahma Janen Gopon Kommoti’ actress admits that there has been a lot of change in society with education and awareness, but still we have a long way to go. Mentioning that women are often embarrassed and feel awkward about certain health issues, she said that the more people will see, the more they will move forward and attitudes will change.

Meanwhile, her film ‘Fatafati’ is all set to release on March 3 and comes with a social message too. The Aritra Mukherjee directorial, also starring Abir Chatterjee in the lead, traces the journey of a plus-size model while exploring the idea of unrealistic beauty standards.

Sharing her thoughts on ‘Fatafati’s unique concept, the actress had earlier said that she always felt strongly about the subject of body positivity and raised her voice. “It is about time we establish that you don't have to be a certain stereotypical body type to be seen in a fashion magazine! Together, we need to move towards breaking the shackles of body shaming and transform the perception on diverse body types. I am excited for the film to go on floors. With our previous film Brahma Janen Gopon Kommoti we broke gender stereotype and our next film will highlight the aspects of body positivity," Ritabhari had shared during an interview with ETimes earlier.
