Riingo’s cop film has quietly undergone a change in name. Reason? The previous title, Dayamanti, didn’t go down too well. Though the film is about a powerful and righteous cop, played by
Rituparna Sengupta, it angered those close to senior IPS officer Damayanti Sen; apparently, no one liked the predictable wordplay. Damayanti Sen, who cracked the Park Street rape case and was shunted out soon after, is known as a tigress at work.
The film is now called Damini and Ritu is expected to churn out a power-packed performance in her first as a tough cop. While on Ritu, I wonder how many films is she shooting for at one go. After Drishtikone and Goodnight City, there’s Damini, Ahare Basundhara and Housewife. The list seems to grow every morning
