Arpan Basak’s ‘Malini’ is a short thriller revolving around an established young writer Saranjit. At 27, he has already completed four novels which have been widely accepted by the readers.
The story of ‘Malini’ starts when Saranjit is in his initial thought process of his fifth novel. Something is distracting him from penning down his thoughts and it ends up in an abnormal behavioral change in Saranjit.
The short film is all about how Saranjit will complete his fifth novel.
Supratim Saha will be seen in the role of Saranjit's 27-year-old phase while Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee will play Saranjit in the film. "I found the character very interesting and I love that this whole project is being lead by young director Arpan Basak," said Sujoy.
Meanwhile,
Rii Sen will play the role of Sreemoyee, a reporter who unravels the story behind Saranjeet’s messed up life. She is the one person who, fighting all odds, tracks down Saranjeet and convinces him to reveal the story of his life.
Make-up will play a crucial play in the short as 19 years old Supratim will be turned into 27 years old Saranjit. Aishi Bhattacharya will play the role of a young housewife and her character has loads of shades.
While concept and direction are by Arpan Basak, cinematography will be handled by Anubhav Chatterjee. It will be produced by Biswajit Kumar.
