Riddhi to direct Kaushik in his directorial debut

So far, we’ve seen Kaushik Sen direct Riddhi on stage in various productions. Now, in a role reversal, the son has roped in his father for his directorial debut, Cold Fire. Based on

’s story, the short film will also feature Somak Ghosh. “It is a matter of pride, as baba (Kaushik) genuinely liked the script,” said Riddhi, who has been working on

the script

for years.

Speaking further about the script, Riddhi said, “I had read the short story when I was very young and always wanted to work on it. In 2017, when my maternal grandfather passed away, I made my first visit to a crematorium. That experience changed my life and I was absolutely sure about making this film then and there.”

Meanwhile, all praise for his son, Kaushik said, “The story in itself is very strong, and I really liked the way Riddhi constantly worked on it. I do not know how the final film is going to look like, but he is very sure about what he wants. He is working very seriously.” Reshmi Sen too will be seen in a cameo.

When asked about the storyline, Riddhi refused to divulge much details. “All I can say is that it is my adaptation. We got a go-ahead from Nabarun Bhattacharya’s family and they have really liked it,” he shared, adding, “Music is an integral part of the film and I really want Prabuddha kaku (Banerjee) to work on it.”

The script has been penned by Riddhi along with Anirudhha Dasgupta. Tiyash Sen will work as the DoP. The team is currently busy with the pre-production work and will begin shooting in February.
